Bringing the experience to Walnut Creek CA:

Since 2016, we have measured up to the frequent challenges that faced us and our beloved residents. Our resident-centered care allowed us to optimize subtle factors ranging from fine tuning exercise routines to modifying prescription under the guideline of primary care providers. The result has been happier residents. We take one day at a time and bring out the best of each and every moment.

Our residents enjoy the outdoors in our beautiful garden. At our care home, the residents experience walks through our blooming rose garden every day, pick fruit from our tree orchard, and relax on our shaded patio overlooking the pool, well-manicured grounds.

Our resident's activities are extremely important; just putting them in front of a TV all day is not an activity. We find that if we figure out what they like and create healthy and fun activities that fit their interests, their quality of life improves dramatically.  Our residents may not be able to do much art and crafts, but most of them love dancing and singing just like the old days. For example, we figured out that one of our residents loves rock music and this music brings her to life. When she hears it, she gets up and dances like no one's business!

Our care home is not licensed for occupational therapy, however being creative and using the same techniques to benefit our residents works wonderfully. Our indoor activities are similar to those conducted in occupational therapy, like throwing a 2-lb medical ball, pulling resistance bands, and aerobic exercise. But we don’t make them feel like they are working with a professional; we make them feel like this is just a fun thing to engage and participate in with their friends. Some residents came to us requiring oxygen at night, but with an appropriate exercise program their physician discontinued the oxygen. There are many more cases that demonstrate the high quality of our work.

Sometimes our residents need special comfort, like needing a hug or holding their hand. We give that to them and enjoy our moments giving love and receiving more in return. Our idea is to treat them with our pure-hearted love.

Some worry that if you get them strong, they will walk and have a chance to fall. Wrong way of thinking! You get them strong and stay physically active that is the right way to prevent falls. Give them a chance to live their life, just like us. Make them strong, clean them up, dress them nice, and make them feel beautiful and valuable to the community!

There are many publications have proven to maintain the happiness our body needs these chemicals which support our approaches.

  • To increase Endorphins (aid us in dealing with stress and reducing painful feelings): We exercise, eat dark chocolate, and laugh a lot, which reduce pain and stress.

  • To increase Serotonin: Aerobic exercises, rose garden tours, sun exposure, and nature walks.

  • To Increase Dopamine: We perform self-care activities, eat delicious and healthy food, and often celebrate to increase pleasure.

  • To increase Oxytocin (Bonding – Love and trust): We give hugs, compliment residents (telling them how beautiful/handsome they are), have them play with dogs, and hold resident's hands.

  • As a result the residents at our group home are thriving!
